It is the title of a movie . “The Sound of Freedom.” When I first encountered the title, and heard that it was going to be opening on July 4th, my immediate thoughts were that this would be about the military, and maybe a true story that depicted a harrowing tale of bravery and courage and unstoppable strength to fight against an enemy.
I enjoy true stories brought to film, that show the capabilities that human beings have to withstand, and persevere through the most dire and horrific circumstances, and their ability to never give up, and their willingness to sacrifice their lives for the freedom of people that they have never met.
It is awe inspiring to hear these stories. Our freedom comes at great cost . These men and women that have given their lives to preserve our present freedom can never be thanked enough. Sometimes there are really no words, but gratitude, and looking deep into the eyes of someone you know who has served your country changes you.
This was not this film. This film will eviscerate your soul on a level that knocks the breath from your lungs, and leaves you broken, and yet inspired to help save our children. Because.. they all are our children . We were all once children.. innocent . We all needed protection.
This film is about human trafficking, and in more specific, trafficked children.
I bought tickets because after I watched the trailer, I knew this movie was important to see. I also knew I didn’t really want to see it, because I don’t want to know how evil, depraved and ugly humanity can be. I have a very visual memory and imagination. The things I see come back to me, often in the dead of night when my head is buried beneath multiple pillows. I will awake drenched in sweat realizing I’ve just emerged from a recent nightmare journey.
Often, there is no recollection of the dream, but my body’s reaction tells the tale that this night was not peaceful . Once images go into the mind, they are hard to eradicate. Given this, intentionally watching subject matter that pierces my soul, and makes me seethe with rage simultaneously is not where I want to be. And yet.. I was compelled to watch .
I can’t look away . This issue is too important. This is difficult to acknowledge that this is going on today in the world. Our children are too precious to ignore their pain and their cries.
This script is based on a true story . It is the real life account of Tim Ballard, played by the actor, Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in the movie by Mel Gibson, ” The Passion of the Christ.”

During the viewing of the film, ” you could have heard a pin drop.” It appears that this blog has taken on a movie review and that was not my intention, but as I awoke in the deep of the night, I ended up watching the interview with Dr, Jordan Peterson , Jim Caveziel, and Tim Ballard. I found it to be exceptionally interesting.
I am technically challenged, and given that I have attempted, in vain to insert the you tube link to the movie trailer. It is easily found on you tube.
It is the goal of these film makers and those who participated, that this film would have 2,000,000 viewers this opening weekend to signify the 2,000,000 trafficked children worldwide.
The actor Jim Caveziel and the man he was portraying, Tim Ballard, are bringing to light this exceedingly dark present situation. It’s happening in our country, and it needs to stop.
I don’t often get on a political soap box, and actually detest politics, but children, and protecting them, it’s the most important thing that we can do .
“The Sound of Freedom” will stun you, make you cry, and open your eyes to what is possible if one person decides to make a stand .
